Penticton soup kitchen volunteer gives back with his family
Robert Rabello spent part of his Thanksgiving Sunday volunteering at Penticton’s Soupateria. Robert, who lives in Summerland, was aided by his wife and two sons. They all agreed there was no better way for this family to spend time together during the long weekend.
But for Robert, serving the hungry is more than a passion. It’s something that hits very close to home.Global BC News News story
On behalf of the Soupateria board of directors, our volunteer members, and our clients, we would like to express our sincere condolences to Marcel Gagne’s family and relatives. Marcel was
a very kind and generous soul. He will be sorely missed.
Thank you to Kevin Proteau of Locals Supporting Locals-your donation of $240 will go a long way! Locals Supporting Locals just released their 3rd Annual 2016 Locals Calendar and held an event at the Penticton Legion where they raised $240.00 for the Soupateria.
Rock’N it Local into to the New Year was about celebrating everything local in our South Okanagan from our local artists, to local businesses and our local farmers. This event was also about supporting our local Soupateria with all proceeds from the raffle going to the Penticton Soupateria.
With winter fast approaching, those living on the streets are battling the cold and the wind everyday. But as Cole Deakin reports, a Penticton man is making it his mission to make sure all of the homeless people in his community have something warm to wear when they are braving the element.Global Okanagan News story
The 1st Coyote Hills Guides enjoyed visiting the Penticton Soupateria on Wednesday. The Guides assembled “Blessing Bags” for those in need. The girls started collecting items and donations in September and were able to pack and donate 42 bags. Lauraine (team leader at the Soupateria) was amazing with the girls and kind enough to volunteer her time to meet with us and teach the girls about the Soupateria’s mission. The girls learned ALOT, it was a great night. Thank you!
